Update #85

We have some more pleasing news today!

Rapid Antigen Testing has been completed for the Waratah residents and only 3 residents are now positive. The other residents who were Covid positive in the Waratah suburb are recovering well.  All residents of Jacaranda have been tested today, and apart from our 1 Covid positive resident already identified, all results are negative. This is good news and we hope to continue to pass on news of this nature.

As mentioned yesterday, all residents and staff on site will undergo a PCR test on 30th January 2022.

Pleasingly staff shortages have eased slightly, and some members of the Social and Engagement team have been able to resume their normal duties. Residents of The Hill made hearts today for Valentine’s Day, Bingo is on in BlueGum this afternoon. Some residents of The Lodge have been accessing the gardens for individual walks with staff.

The goodwill economy is working overtime to support all in Maroba’s care. We have a new volunteer recruit, Dean who earlier in the week thoroughly enjoyed facilitating Bingo with the Hill residents. Brenda, our hairdresser has also volunteered her time to assist with care support over in The Lodge.  Olywn, another new volunteer recruit is assisting with some administration tasks off-site. The Mater Hospital volunteers have also rung in to offer their assistance with any non-clinical tasks.  We can’t forget our volunteers who are busy packaging the RAT kits for staff. We are encouraged and so thankful and appreciative of all offers of support.

As mentioned previously, if any resident’s health declines a Registered Nurse will contact family members to notify and discuss your loved one’s health condition. For everyone’s safety, all care staff continue to wear full PPE.

With school returning next week we anticipate case numbers will rise. Please take care when out and about the community.

Yours sincerely
