Update #95
11 February 2022
Dear Residents, family members and friends,
I am delighted to report that day 1 post isolation is going smoothly, with everyone enjoying visitors, outings, the hairdresser, the gym or just a new sense of ‘freedom’ to catch up with friends.
Of course we will continue to monitor all residents for symptoms.
General weekday visiting only has resumed for residents of all suburbs which is wonderful news. Please note
- Visiting for residents of Waratah will be in room only.
- Unless you have a prior arrangement, all other visiting is outside by appointment only in designated areas.
- When visiting remember you are required as per the Public Health Order to be double vaccinated and there is the additional requirement of a negative RAT test on the day of the visit.
- Visitors are to wear N95 masks supplied by Maroba.
- Only 2 visitors for up to 30 minutes, no children under 12 years can visit.
- If your loved one leaves the facility for social or a medical excursion, we are required to carry out a testing regime post outing, so that we can monitor your loved one for Covid -19 if they leave the facility. Residents who do not return the same day should be isolated until they have a negative PCR, (RAT if delays in PCR processing) the day of return with subsequent tests on day 2, 4 and 7 after they return.
Whilst we are currently open to different forms of visitation and small resident friendship groups are once again able to meet in the Junction Café or Lodge lounge areas for coffee and catch up, we are encouraging as much as possible for residents to stay within in their suburb groups. This is a cautious approach to preventing possible cross contamination of any infectious disease.
On another note we are watching with great interest the National discussion regarding Vaccination as ATAG has announced that to be fully Vaccinated, one will have had 3 doses of Vaccine. Whilst we have not received formal advise we do suggest you give consideration to what may be required to enter an aged Care service as the Pandemic continues. It is your personal choice, however Aged Care providers do not have the luxury of choice and must abide by any health orders handed down. I have included an excerpt from a media post today, which may give an indication of what will be expected.
Thanks again to our Volunteers who are facilitating your visits…they are amazing, as families keep telling me of their very positive experiences when checking in. So please be sure to thank them for supporting your time with your loved one!
Now I’m sure you will all be pleased to know, I will not be posting daily Covid updates as the Outbreak has been declared over. Yet if there is a re occurrence in the days, weeks or months ahead, as promised you will be updated daily if possible. Moving forward I will continue to provide updates when I have Covid related news to share. For instance, when we change visiting arrangements if new orders come into play, you will hear it from Maroba. So have the weekend off from checking for Maroba updates but keep an eye out on our social media and e-mails for those future messages and announcements.
It has been a privileged to serve you throughout the past very challenging time of extended confinement and I can say on behalf of our Board and entire Maroba team …thank you for cheering us on, you really have made the difference!
Yours sincerely,
Viv Allanson, CEO
