Dear Families and Friends

I can report that whilst we did not have any new Covid positive residents yesterday, we do have 1 new case today.

The gentleman’s family have been informed and along with the families of all Covid positive residents they will be contacted daily with a wellbeing update.

The Waratah wing of course remains in full isolation with staff in Full PPE to limit the spread of the virus. Unfortunately, not all residents are able to co-operate with remaining in their rooms, making it quite challenging to prevent further spread. However, I do commend the Waratah team on their efforts and their wonderful attitude toward those in their care.

Whilst some residents are feeling unwell, I would say all are stable at the moment. Families will be notified if any concerning changes arise.

Let me take this opportunity to thank all our families who are supporting our restrictions as the outbreak continues to evolve. It is vital to everyone’s safety that our requirements are followed. It does not help when a family member chooses not to read our updates and decides to enter via any unlocked door without permission and without evidence of a negative RAT. This puts staff on duty in a very difficult position as not every member of staff knows who has permission to visit. We are relying on adults taking responsibility along with us to ensure the highest level of protection to both residents and staff.

No one thinks they will be the one to spread Covid yet it is on me to assume everyone that enters Maroba is a potential carrier. We continue doing our best to mitigate that risk and we remain committed to that task.

Stay tuned and keep wearing your masks for you own protection whilst out and about as cases are circulating in the general community.

Stay safe and well.

Yours sincerely,

Viv Allanson
