Update #94
10 February 2022
Dear Residents and family members,
Well, this covid pandemic is certainly a rollercoaster. Today we received the PCR result for our 1 resident in Nobbys who yesterday tested positive on a Rapid Antigen Test. We are pleased to advise the result is negative and we are over the moon. All Nobbys’ and The Hill residents are to be tested again on 14 February 2022 and are very closely being monitored for symptoms.
So, general weekday visiting can resume for residents of all suburbs which is wonderful news. Please note
- Visiting for residents of Waratah will be in room only.
- Unless you have a prior arrangement, all other visiting is outside by appointment only in designated areas.
- When visiting remember you are required as per the Public Health Order to be double vaccinated and there is the additional requirement of a negative RAT test on the day of the visit.
- Visitors are to wear N95 masks supplied by Maroba.
- Only 2 visitors for up to 30 minutes, no children under 12 years can visit.
- If your loved one leaves the facility for social or a medical excursion, we are required to carry out a testing regime post outing, so that we can monitor your loved one for Covid -19 if they leave the facility. Residents who do not return the same day should be isolated until they have a negative PCR, (RAT if delays in PCR processing) the day of return with subsequent tests on day 2, 4 and 7 after they return.
Many Waratah residents boarded the bus today for their drive around Newcastle. They all came back grinning and thoroughly enjoyed their first taste of freedom since prior to Christmas. As per previous advice, the gym has re-opened and it was the Lodge residents turn to access the gym today.
Whilst we are currently open to visitation and small resident friendship groups are once again able to meet in the Junction Café for coffee and catch up, we are encouraging as much as possible residents to stay within their suburb groups. This is a cautious approach to preventing possible cross contamination of any infectious disease.
Thanks again to our Volunteers who are facilitating your visits…they are amazing, so please be sure to thank them for supporting your time with your loved one!
Yours sincerely,
Viv Allanson, CEO
