Maroba inducted into ‘Work Integrated Learning Hall of Fame’

In 2021,  Maroba was inducted into the Work Integrated Learning Hall of Fame at the University of Newcastle.

We have been providing dynamic work-readiness placements for students across speech pathology, and other allied health programs since 2012.

We use a multidisciplinary approach and the placements work symbiotically for the benefit of students, residents, families of residents, staff and the wider community. Fostering close relationships between stakeholders is a priority.  Even during the pandemic, we welcomed students’ involvement in online (zoom) sessions with residents, which not only helped the students master important telehealth skills, but was also a vital morale booster for elderly residents. “It’s been an excellent program for students to get really hands-on experience, understand their idiosyncrasies and for residents to get supervised care in all its forms,” says CEO Viv Allanson.

‘Maroba continues to play an influential role in the lives of future leaders in our health system and we’re so glad we can acknowledge them in this way.’ – University of Newcastle, The Office of Employability & Work Integrated Learning.
