Update #102

14 April 2022

Good afternoon family and friends,

The Easter long weekend is upon us and it looks like we will see the sun which is good news.

A friendly reminder that Maroba is open for booked in-room visiting on Sunday 17th and bookings have now closed.

From 4.30pm today, Maroba will be closed for visiting on Friday 15th, Saturday 16th, and Monday 18th April and will re-open again for general visiting on Tuesday 19 April. Special visiting arrangements for those who provide care support remain the same.

As previously reported, we remain in an active Outbreak and are still experiencing staff shortages and exposures. I am very pleased to report that no residents are showing signs of Colds or Flu and none have tested positive for Covid.

It is anticipated that the spread of Coronavirus will continue to escalate during the colder months, and during the holiday period so it is not the time to be complacent.

Please remember to practice good hand hygiene, social distancing and although masks are not compulsory in most settings, I encourage everyone to wear their mask when in crowds and when social distancing cannot be maintained.

As mentioned in Update #101, a 4th vaccination for covid is now available and we urge everyone to consider booking in with their GP for this booster shot.

The virus is spreading quickly across the Hunter Region placing older people at greater risk of serious disease. The vaccines on offer have proven to make a difference to the severity of the disease which will enable a quicker recovery and greater protection if we do come into close contact with an active case.

If you haven’t already, please attend to both the Covid and Flu vaccination consent forms available on our website ASAP, so that we are prepared for our clinic on 22 April 2022. If you are not able to access the forms on-line, please ask at reception for assistance.

I wish everyone a safe and Happy Easter.

Yours sincerely
