Update #8 – Outbreak 13.10.21

October 22, 2021

Dear Residents & Family members,

Re. Update #8 – Outbreak 13.10.21

We have fabulous news!  The test results of all 23 residents in the Honeysuckle wing have come back negative.

We met with the Health authorities this afternoon who gave the green light. The outbreak will finish at midnight on Saturday 23 October, so as from Sunday 24 October life will return to another new normal at Maroba.

The following arrangements are in place as of Monday. Please read carefully.

Honeysuckle families and residents
From Monday no appointments is necessary
In-room visits are possible between the hours of 9-4pm.
Maximum 2 fully vaccinated visitors (2nd vaccine administered prior to 10 October) per day allowed

Families and residents in BlueGum, Jacaranda, Nobbys, The Hill, and Waratah
Appointments for Monday still stand and these will be outside visits.

From Tuesday onwards, visitation arrangements for all residents is as follows

Visiting Monday to Friday is between 9-4pm.
No appointments necessary for in-room visits
Maximum 2 fully vaccinated visitors (2nd vaccine administered prior to 10 October) per day

If you are not able to genuinely visit during week days, weekend and after hours visiting is possible by appointment only. Appointments are to be made via Reception during business hours. If it is a weekend, the appointment times will be set for 10am and 3.30pm as this will minimise disruption to the Registered Nurse workflow. Any after-hours visits during the week can be arranged for a mutually suitable time.

More general information

With the NSW Health mandated maximum 2 visitors per day ruling, please ensure you liaise with other family members and friends as to when you will be visiting. We would not like to have to turn anyone away and residents I am sure would welcome a staggered visits.

At all times, there is to be no congregating in communal areas. When visiting, please go straight to your loved ones room or perhaps sit in the garden with your mask and a distance of 1.5 metres.

We are pleased to advise

  • The gym will re-open to all residents from Wednesday under the pre-outbreak arrangement of residents visiting in their suburbs, the same with the Beauty and Day Spa, hairdressers and general activities will resume per floor.
  • Community clients can return as per internal arrangements
  • Bus drives will recommence from Monday and we will welcome our volunteers back.
  • Excursions are now possible with the completion of an Excursion Form. We attach a form to this email to complete, please return within 24 hours. This form will soon be available on our website.

Covid vaccination certificates

If you require a copy of your loved ones Covid vaccination certificate, please visit the Service NSW website (link below – copy and paste in a browser) for more information on how to obtain a copy.

Alternatively, with permission from the residents Enduring Guardian we are able to provide a copy from Australian Immunisation Record. Please complete the attached form.

At the moment, we are still not able to admit any visitors who live in or have visited the Greater Sydney region including Shellharbour, Wollongong, Blue Mountains and Central Coast and we have not been advised when this ruling will change.

I wish to remind everyone again of the importance of monitoring your own health and movements. Covid is still circulating in our community and we know that even though our residents and staff are fully vaccinated, immunity does wane. We are hopeful the government will announce soon booster shots for the older population (more to come on that), but meantime I remind everyone again, please do not attempt to visit us if you

  • have the slightest cough or cold/flu like symptoms;
  • have been contacted by NSW Health as a close or casual contact;
  • are waiting for the results of a Covid test;
  • have been in contact with a confirmed close contact who is waiting on a test result
  • have not had both Vaccinations at least 14 days ago.
  • are Under 12 years of age
  • reside in or have visited Sydney Central, Coast Blue Mountains or any other known area of concern.

I can’t tell you how relieved we all are about this news.

For our next update, we will return to our General Coronavirus update. Our next update will be Update #70!!

Please remember to practice good hand hygiene, social distancing and mask wearing. It works!

Yours sincerely,

Viv Allanson, CEO
