Coronavirus Update #70
Greetings Maroba Community,
How delightful to be able to welcome visitors back to Maroba.
This week so far, we have had 160 visitors through our doors and it has been wonderful to see the smiles on our residents faces as they connect with their family.
Have you been watching the NSW Health updates? The Hunter New England region is now leading the state for new daily Covid cases and with almost half the new cases infectious in the community I am concerned. We are entering a perfect storm with the effectiveness of vaccines waning, domestic travel on the rise and soon international travellers will be entering the country.
We anticipate soon being given the green light to administer a Pfizer Covid-19 Booster to those original residents who received a Pfizer vaccine 6 months ago. Our web-based consent form is now available on our website under ‘Contact Us’. If your loved one has had the 2 vaccines please discuss with them whether they wish to receive a Booster shot and complete the consent form. We anticipate administering booster shots in the week commencing 8th November and will require consent forms prior to that.
Residents are now permitted to leave the facility and attend family gatherings or for other reasons but must abide by the current Public Health (Covid-19 General) Order 2021.
A reminder of our visiting arrangements.
- All visitors are to be fully vaccinated with the second dose to have been received at least 14 days prior to visiting Maroba.
- At this stage no children under 12 years of age are able to visit aged care facilities.
- On entering Maroba from Myall Road, parking for visitors is possible in the top car park, Braye Park end. We apologise for parking problems early in the week.
- Visiting during the week is from Monday to Friday, 9-4pm with no appointment necessary.
- Weekends are by appointment made via Reception and are either 10am or 3pm entry.
- Surgical masks are to be worn and are available on check-in via our Coolgard visitation system.
- No congregating in communal areas. Visiting is in residents rooms or you may like to go out in the grounds for a picnic.
Please continue to keep safe during these challenging and precarious times especially with the increase in local case numbers of late.
Remember, please do not visit if;
- you have the slightest cough or cold/flu like symptoms or gastro intestinal symptoms;
- have been contacted by NSW Health as a close or casual contact;
- are waiting for the results of a Covid test;
- have been in contact with a confirmed close contact who is waiting on a test result
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ring Reception on (02) 4935 0300 and you will be directed to the most appropriate person to answer your enquiry.
Yours sincerely,
Viv Allanson
