Your Social life @Maroba
We encourage residents to stay active and engaged socially and connected with friends, and of course family. One of the many benefits of joining a new community is that you will also get to meet new people and make new friends.
Family & friend outings – social leave
Day outings, overnight visits and holidays is possible (except when there are restrictions due to Covid) and we ask that we are given at least 48 hours’ notice of the intended outing so we can ensure all essentials such as medications, if necessary can be arranged.
When you leave the facility it is important that residents or relative signs in and out.
Our services
Our Social and Engagement team facilitate daily activities that includes bus outings in the community, art therapy, outdoor walks, happy hour, bingo, games, birthday celebrations, exercises and much more. We also have individual programs. We consult and engage with our residents to ensure our programs reflect and support their ideas, needs, and preferences ensuring the programs are meaningful, engaging and what they like to do. The programs are distributed at the beginning of the month so that the days can be planned and residents are kept engaged and active on a daily basis. Some fees may apply to specific activities. Please see the Social Engagement team for further information.
Our Spiritual Care Team connects and supports our residents. They can provide residents with emotional individual support or connect our residents with religious and devotional services.
We have a Wellness Team who provide programs that support our residents to remain as independent as possible, so they can continue to engage and enjoy the activities of life they choose such as exercise programs and gym services. This team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapist, Physio Aids and Personal Trainer.
Maroba has a number of volunteers who give generously of their time to enhance the lifestyle of residents. Volunteers assist with sewing, craft, resident outings, activities, games, any special area of interest and one on one social support.
The Social & Engagement activities are subject to change and some volunteer activities may also be reduced if visitation is restricted.
The information on this webpage is an excerpt from the Maroba ‘Residents Handbook’ which is given to all Residents and Families when they join the Maroba Community.
